Outreach Chair
As the Chair of Outreach for the Association of Women in Science at Notre Dame from Fall 2017 to Spring 2019, I was in charge of all the different outreach activities AWIS manages:
STEMentorship: Each year, this program pairs approximately 50 undergraduate women in STEM to 50 graduate women in STEM in a one-on-one mentoring relationship, with the goal of supporting and mentoring students to remain in STEM fields. In addition to pairing students we also host social and professional development events featuring strong women in STEM.
Pi Day 5k: 5k/10k race that raises funds for the Boys and Girls Club of St. Joseph County, as well as provides STEM outreach through Pi Day activities and lab tours. Over 5 years, we’ve raised over $10,000.
Science Alive: Coordinated demo table at the St. Joseph County Public Library’s annual event, which draws in over 2500 community members each year. Created multidisciplinary demos on “Science You Could Do at Home” in 2018, 2019.
March for Science
Directed programming for the March for Science South Bend 2017. Coordinated day of itinerary, including organizing a teach-in by local science groups and speaker programming.
Outreach Chair
As Outreach Chair for the Biology Graduate Student Organization, I created and publicized events for graduate student led outreach programs, such as Science Alive.
